Jaime is an international mindfulness/meditation teacher. He is a director of community led rites of passage events both here in Aotearoa and in Brazil. Jaime is an inspiring speaker who shares his passion for community development with humour, gentleness and vision.

He is the Founder and Director of Opening Minds. For over 18 years he has been sharing  mindfulness with children, young adults, families and elders in a variety of settings from weekend courses to six week long residential retreats. 

Jaime developed the Calm Clear Creative Mindfulness Teacher Training, supported by The Doctors Motueka that won the National Care Award 2018. He is a graduate of a three years school of mindfulness, who went to spend a further three years as a resident practitioner at the Wangapeka Study and Retreat centre. 

Jaime is a passionate community worker for youth and young adults. He helped found the Young Adult Retreat (now in its 6th year it offers week long residential mindfulness retreats). For the past three years Jaime has created and delivered 4-6 week residential mindfulness retreats for young adults aged 20-25. 

He is currently working to offer a three year international school of Wisdom and Compassion into being for young adults. He is one of a few males (the only one in the NZ training) qualified to offer Open Floor conscious movement practice.

  • Qualified Open Floor International Teacher

  • First class Hons as Master in Education – Transformative Educational Practices. Exploring Rites of Passage for young adults. Canterbury University New Zealand.

  • Diploma in Teaching Health and Outdoor Education

  • B.A. Honours in Community Studies from Bradford University UK 

  • 10+ years experience as a school teacher in Secondary and Primary settings.

  • Graduate of a three year school of mindfulness/meditation who spent a further three years as resident practitioner at the Wangapeka study and retreat centre

  • Founder and Director of Opening Minds, an organisation that has delivered hundreds of courses in the Nelson/Tasman region.

  • Musician, poet and song writer.
